BTS Jimin holds the record for the first K-pop singer to reach the top spot of "Hot 100"

According to this week's single chart released by Billboard on the 4th, Jimin's solo album title song "Like Crazy" topped pop star Miley Cyrus' "Flowers" and country singer Morgan Wallen's "Last Night."

Previously, BTS was the only K-pop singer to top the Billboard Hot 100.

Among K-pop soloists, Psy is the previous highest ranking on the "Hot 100" chart. Psy's "Gangnam Style," which sparked a global craze in 2012, ranked second for seven consecutive weeks.

 

In particular, Jimin became the first K-pop singer to reach the top of the charts individually and as a group.

The song, which Jimin introduced himself as "a song that expresses the emotion of the moment when he turns a blind eye to reality to forget his wounds," topped Billboard's main single chart "Hot 100" this week.

Looking at the singles chart, Jimin topped the charts, beating out prominent songs such as "Flowers" by pop star Miley Cyrus and "Last Night" by country singer Morgan Wallen, who has recently become a sensation.

BTS is the only K-pop singer who has topped Billboard's "Hot 100" before, combining both solo and group.

Through "Like Crazy," Jimin became the first Korean solo artist to top Billboard's "Hot 100." Billboard's "Hot 100" is considered the most influential pop music chart in the world. Since Wonder Girls first ranked 76th with "Nobody" in 2009, numerous Korean singers have challenged "Hot 100." As a solo artist, Psy's "Gangnam Style," which was popular as a syndrome in 2012, ranked second for seven consecutive weeks.

Jimin released his first official solo album "Face" on the 24th of last month. The album sold 1.02 million copies on its first day of release. Since Hanteo Chart began its initial tally, it became the first K-pop solo artist album to become a "million seller" on the first day.

"Like Crazy" is the album's title track. It is a synth-pop genre song, inspired by Jimin's favorite movie of the same name and participated in the song. The lyrics are about finding the person you loved in your dream and losing yourself trapped in colorful lights, but nevertheless, you want to stay in your dream forever.

Jimin said on the fan community platform Weverse Live that day, "I don't know what to say because I don't really feel it," adding, "It's possible because it's all BTS, and it's possible because of ARMY (BTS fan club). "I felt more how much ARMY is waiting for BTS," he said. He also said, "I'm very proud and happy because I didn't work hard."

BTS' RM, J-Hope, and Suga also sent congratulatory messages to Jimin. The agency Big Hit Music said on its official Twitter account, "It's an unbelievable number one."

Starting with a concert to host the 2030 Busan World Expo in October last year, BTS has completed its "complete activities" and is focusing on solo activities. Jin is serving in the military, and J-Hope is also about to join the army. It is expected that the members will resume their group activities in 2025, when they complete their military service.
